Why a bibliographical guide?

Paralipomena Iuris

This site offers a bibliographical guide for study and research in several areas of law, with a focus on civil law. It covers works that are already in the public domain but remain hard to reach — because the general public does not know them, because ordinary search engines fail to find them, or because of the language barrier of the classical tongues. They are, in a sense, παραλειπόμενα — that is, works that have been left aside and rarely turn up in historical or doctrinal research, in Brazil or abroad.

Paralipomena Iuris is still under construction. Authors are being added gradually.

The endless mass of resources available online is almost as burdensome as having no access at all.

About the site

Paralipomena Iuris aims to be an introductory guide to works of private law, listing the various editions of each work and, where possible, adding a short note on its importance. Unless expressly stated, the site does not host the works: it relies on the main repositories of digitised books available online.
